So here’s a thought I had. I welcome any thoughtful comments. Let’s say that God has created us with a need for physical interaction with one another. Let’s say that we need touch in our lives. Let’s say a young man becomes aware of this need. Let’s say he has non-sexual desires to hug other guys and be hugged by them. Let’s say he wants support and presence confirmed by touch. Remember he does not approach or receive this touch in a sexual manner. What would happen if every time he sought out this affirmation through touch those around him told such interaction was “gay”? What if he worked to avoid such displays of (non sexual) affection only to more greatly realize his need for them. Could he reach the point where he becomes so aware of his need for this touch and so convinced by those around him that such touch is homosexual that he would conclude that since he himself needs that touch and that touch is homosexual that he is indeed is homosexual?

Yes, I am sure that could happen, although I’m not sure how common that is. I remember being called a lesbian in elementary school because my best friend and I were inseparable. It was an unpleasant experience, but I never entertained that idea. I think in alot of ways touch is seen as sexual no matter what the context just because of how the world is today. Just for fun:

What would happen if every time she sought out this affirmation through touch those around her told such interaction was wrong/immoral? What if she worked to avoid such displays of (non sexual) affection only to more greatly realize her need for them. just a thought…
