Running

Trying to get in shape for a Marathon I’ve come to appreciate how many low traffic roads I have had available to me the various places I’ve previously trained. Waynesboro and Grantham are both well supplied with roads for running. After two weeks I’m already getting tired of the not-so-great loops that start at my front door here in Ubon.

Admittedly, were I just looking to run a kilometer or two, there’s a great path around the lake right outside my door. But I’m running longer distances and bore quickly of a repeated loop. There are even some pretty nice longer loops in my area, but I have to drive to get to them. It seems kind of weird to drive in order to run.

As I explore new loops, dogs keep things from getting boring. Ubon is home to I have no idea how many wandering dogs. Last night I drove my motorcycle a few kilometers outside of Ubon to run somewhere with more trees and fewer cars. When I got back to my motorcycle from my run I found several dogs who believed my motorcycle belonged to them rather than to me. Fortunately, they didn’t do anything other than bark.
