Twice Around the Lake

Today I put back on the shorts and shoes and went for a run. I hadn’t gotten out since the onset of dengue. It felt good to run again.

While I was on the side of the lake that borders the road, the guard where I live drove past and said, “run quickly please.” I did what I could. I ran fast enough to get back to my apartment the same time he did (he had to travel a greater distance than I did).

I just wanted to be the first to comment. The little thing said, “Be the first to comment,” so I took it up on the offer.

why did the guard want you to run quickly? The mind boggles at the myriad of reasons why he might.
did he just think you were running too slow?
did he feel guilty that you were running and he was being lazy?
were you in danger of being attacked by wild dogs?
is running around the lake a big cultural faux pas?
was he just flexing his guard muscles and making you run faster because of some deep seated root need to be the boss ?
I will probably lose sleep over this one.
